Measuring Fitness with Strength Sensors
Track Your Strength with Precision
Tracking your fitness progress is essential, but measuring strength in functional training can be challenging. Traditional gym machines make it easy with built-in metrics, but functional training tools like ropes and bands lack this simplicity. That’s where our lineup of strength sensors comes in. These portable devices deliver accurate, real-time data, making strength testing simple and accessible anywhere.
Why Strength Testing Was Traditionally Easier with Machines
Gym machines have long been the gold standard for strength testing. With fixed weights and digital readouts, they tell you exactly what you’ve lifted—no guesswork required. Functional training, on the other hand, involves dynamic, free-form movements that are tougher to measure without the right tools. Our strength sensors change that, bringing precision to your workouts without tying you to a machine.
Why Strength Testing Is Key to Any Training Regime
Strength testing isn’t just a nice-to-have - it’s the foundation of effective training. Here’s why it matters:
- Set baselines: Knowing your starting point lets you measure real progress over time.
- Track improvements: See how your strength grows, week by week, to stay motivated.
- Prevent injuries: Spot weaknesses early and adjust your routine to avoid strain or overtraining.
Tailor your workouts: Use precise data to target specific muscle groups or movements.
Beyond that, strength testing helps you optimize your training regime. Whether you’re building power for sports, improving endurance, or rehabbing an injury, accurate measurements let you adjust intensity and volume to match your goals. Without this data, you’re guessing - and that can stall progress or lead to plateaus. Our sensors give you the numbers you need to train smarter, ensuring every rep counts toward your bigger picture.

Frequently asked Questions
The Powrlink Light app and the Powrlink (Legacy) app serve similar purposes but differ in their approach to structuring and managing workout data, as well as their features for data export and sensor connectivity. Here are the key differences:
- Terminology: In the Powrlink Light app, your training sessions are called "Workouts," while in the Powrlink (Legacy) app, they are referred to as "Sessions." Both Workouts and Sessions can include multiple exercises, and each exercise can have multiple sets.
- Exercise Naming and Structure: The Powrlink app allows you to name exercises once and reuse them across sessions or within the same session for more granular data organization, though this can make it less intuitive. In contrast, the Powrlink Light app simplifies this process: you start a Workout with Exercise 1 (E1) and Set 1 (S1), then use buttons like "Next Exercise" (to E2 S1) or "Next Set" (to E1 S2) to progress. These markers are saved with your training data for later analysis in the app or via CSV export.
- Data Export: The Powrlink app does not support direct CSV export through the app; instead, you can sync your Sessions to a web portal (https://aerobis.com/pages/powrlink-export) using the same login as the app, then download them for further analysis. The Powrlink Light app offers a direct export option right from the Workout Detail screen, making it easier to analyze your data in tools like Excel or Google Sheets.
- Sensor Connectivity: The Powrlink Light app can connect to two Powrlink Light Sensors simultaneously, saving both resistance curves with all values for detailed comparisons, such as unilateral movements or athlete competitions. The Powrlink (Legacy) app supports only one sensor at a time.
We currently offer three sensors for measuring fitness: Powrlink Light, Powrlink, and Power Scale. Below are their dimensions in millimeters (with US measurements in inches):
- Powrlink Light: 131 mm (L) x 80 mm (W) x 40 mm (H) / 5.16" x 3.15" x 1.57"
- Powrlink: 98 mm (L) x 34 mm (W) x 54 mm (H) / 3.86" x 1.34" x 2.13"
- Power Scale: 146 mm (L) x 70 mm (W) x 32 mm (H) / 5.75" x 2.76" x 1.26"
