I was always very happy with the alphabands 2.0, which were much better than the first version. The advantage of the alphabands is still their compactness and light weight. Really ideal for traveling. The disadvantage was always that they are very delicate and thin and training with them always felt a bit strange. When using standard latex bands, you somehow have “more in your hand”. Also, the stretchability of alpha bands has always been a bit more limited than latex bands. The new Powerbands close this gap. They are excellent! They fit extremely well in the hand, are a similar size to latex bands and feel very good. The stretchability is very good, I would even say that it is slightly better than with the latex bands. In addition to the better feel, the thermoplastic has another advantage: it is unlikely to discolor and fade, which unfortunately cannot be prevented with latex bands. They always look a bit shabby after a while. This will probably not be the case here, even though I have no long-term proof of this. I can recommend the Powerband Trainer in particular. I’ve always used the bands in pairs anyway, so the trainer set here suits me very well. The price-performance ratio is ideal! The new carabiners are also a great experience. They are significantly larger than the aerosling carabiners and also heavier. But above all, they have a perfect shape to accommodate even the largest latex straps. There are countless carabiner shapes, but most of them are not straight enough, so the straps are always loaded on one side. The new aerobis carabiner is wonderfully straight, so that even the heavier, i.e. wider straps lie perfectly smooth and evenly loaded in it. A very good solution. A great set and a successful further development of the aerobis resistance bands.

There are two noticeable differences between Powerbands and dumbbells. Firstly, dumbbells are always used to train against gravity, i.e. roughly from bottom to top. Resistance bands also allow horizontal movements in which the resistance is created in the direction of pull or push. Secondly, the resistance of the fitness bands increases in relation to the stretch. This makes the workout particularly easy on the joints.You can definitely replace dumbbells with Powerbands as there are no real disadvantages
