Product description

  • Once a day, one capsule: all 13 vitamins plus trace elements in a single capsule. No pile of tablets, no two- or three-capsule routine.
  • Vegan, no gelatine: formula suitable for a vegan diet, capsule shell made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). Lactose-free, no gluten-containing ingredients.
  • No iodine, no iron: left out on purpose, because you are better off dosing these two individually, based on what you actually need.
  • Sensible doses, not record numbers: most nutrients sit between 50 and 190 % of the nutrient reference value (NRV), vitamin A deliberately lower, vitamin D3 and B12 deliberately higher. No megadoses just to impress on the label.
  • With coenzyme Q10, lutein and zeaxanthin: 30 mg coenzyme Q10, 8 mg lutein and 1.6 mg zeaxanthin from marigold extract, plus 70 mg choline.
  • Active forms: folate as active 5-MTHF, vitamin B12 as methyl- and hydroxocobalamin, B6 as P5P, B2 as riboflavin 5'-phosphate, vitamin K2 as all-trans MK-7, zinc as bisglycinate, selenium as L-selenomethionine.
  • Made in Germany: produced locally in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) to HACCP and GMP standards.
  • Transparent: every amount per capsule, with % NRV, is listed openly in the table below.
  • Price: EUR 19.90 per can, about EUR 0.66 a day (30 capsules).

Most multivitamins are built for the label: as many ingredients as possible, percentages as high as possible. We built ours the other way round. Anything that disappointed in large studies at high single doses, we dose with restraint. Anything you should dose individually, we leave out. And for every single form we asked whether there is a better one. The result is the aerobis Multivitamin: vegan multivitamin capsules, once a day, sensible amounts, active forms and deliberately free of iodine and iron. We explain the reasons further down, and in full detail, with every study, in a separate article.

Most people know us for training equipment. Since 2009 we have been developing gear for sport and everyday life at aerobis in Cologne. This multivitamin is our first product made entirely locally in NRW. It is meant for people who train, work a lot and want a simple daily routine without wrestling with five tubs and ten capsules a day.

Our approach: less show, more sense

Many multivitamins try to outdo each other with long ingredient lists and percentages far above daily needs. It looks impressive on the pack. We are not convinced. To us, a multivitamin is a supplement to your diet, not a contest for the highest number.

That is why we follow four rules:

1. One capsule, not several

A supplement you do not take every day does nothing for you. One capsule with breakfast or lunch works on busy days, when travelling and at the weekend. Many other multivitamins split the daily serving across two or more capsules or tablets. We deliberately chose a single one and built the formula to fit.

2. Sensible amounts instead of megadoses

More is not automatically better. Most of the vitamins and trace elements in our capsule sit between 50 and 190 % of the nutrient reference value (NRV). Vitamin A, at 300 µg (37.5 % NRV), is deliberately below that. Vitamin D3 (20 µg) and vitamin B12 (15 µg) are deliberately above. For everything else we see no reason to pack a multiple of the reference value into one capsule. You eat food as well, after all.

3. What you should dose individually stays out

Iodine, iron and magnesium are important nutrients. That is exactly why they do not belong in a one-size-fits-all dose. More on that below.

4. No unnecessary extras

No plant powders in tiny amounts just to make the ingredient list longer. Every active ingredient earns its place because we think it makes sense in that amount. Everything else in the capsule (rice flour, the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose shell and silicon dioxide as an anti-caking agent) is listed openly in the ingredients.

Multivitamin without iodine and iron: why?

This is where we differ most clearly from many other multivitamins. And we stand by it.

No iodine

Many people in Germany already get iodine from iodised table salt, fish, dairy and foods made with iodised salt. How much extra makes sense depends heavily on your diet. Anyone with thyroid issues or taking thyroid medication should only take iodine after talking to their doctor anyway. A multivitamin without iodine leaves that decision to you.

No iron

Iron needs vary widely from person to person. A man on a mixed diet often needs nothing extra, a woman with heavy periods may well do. Iron is best taken in a targeted way, ideally after a blood test. In our view it has no place in one dose for everyone. Our iron-free multivitamin combines easily with a separate iron supplement if you need one.

No magnesium

Magnesium is needed in amounts of several hundred milligrams; the reference value is 375 mg a day. That simply does not fit sensibly into a single capsule alongside all the other nutrients. Many multivitamins therefore add a small, token amount of magnesium. We do not think that is honest. If you want to take magnesium, take it separately and in an amount that suits you.

What is inside: vitamins, trace elements and three extras

Every capsule contains all 13 vitamins (A, D3, E, K2, C and the eight B vitamins), plus the trace elements zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, chromium and molybdenum. These are joined by coenzyme Q10, lutein and zeaxanthin from marigold extract (Tagetes), choline and boron.

Active forms: what is in the capsule

Many multivitamins rely on cheap standard forms. For the key nutrients we chose the active or clearly preferred form. What that means in practice, and what studies on absorption show, is covered in our article on the ingredients.

  • Folate as active 5-MTHF: (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, glucosamine salt
  • Vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin and hydroxocobalamin (no cyanocobalamin)
  • Vitamin B2 as riboflavin 5'-phosphate and vitamin B6 as pyridoxal 5'-phosphate
  • Vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 in all-trans form (MK-7)
  • Vitamin D3 as cholecalciferol (vegan)
  • Zinc as zinc bisglycinate, selenium as L-selenomethionine, chromium as chromium picolinate

The other vitamins and trace elements come in common, proven forms (for example retinyl palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, L-ascorbic acid, gluconates). Coenzyme Q10 is included as ubidecarenone (ubiquinone). Coenzyme Q10, lutein and zeaxanthin are fat-soluble, which is why the capsule is best taken with a meal.

What the vitamins and minerals contribute to

Here we only list what is authorised under EU law for the vitamins and minerals in the capsule. No healing promises, no fantasy.

Immune system

Vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folate, zinc, selenium and copper contribute to the normal function of the immune system.

Energy metabolism

Thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, biotin, vitamin C, copper and manganese contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism.

Less tiredness and fatigue

Folate, riboflavin (B2), vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, niacin and pantothenic acid contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Nervous system

Thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, biotin and copper contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Skin and hair

Biotin, zinc and niacin contribute to the maintenance of normal skin. Biotin, zinc and selenium contribute to the maintenance of normal hair.

Bones

Vitamin D, vitamin K, zinc and manganese contribute to the maintenance of normal bones.

And the rest?

There are no authorised health claims for coenzyme Q10, lutein, zeaxanthin and boron. So we promise nothing for them. They are in the capsule because we consider them a sensible part of the formula. What studies have and have not shown about them is collected, with sources, in a separate article.

Why we do not go for maximum doses

Search for "high-strength multivitamin" and you will find products with 1,000 % or more for individual nutrients. We understand the appeal: a lot sounds like a lot of effect. But you take a multivitamin every day, for months, on top of your food. Moderate amounts are made for exactly that.

So our capsule is not "high strength" in the sense of record values. It is dosed to complement your diet, so you do not have to work out whether you overshoot when you add other products or fortified foods. We name the exceptions openly: vitamin D3 at 20 µg (400 % NRV) and vitamin B12 at 15 µg (600 % NRV) are above that range, vitamin A at 300 µg (37.5 % NRV) deliberately below.

There is also a point that rarely gets mentioned: several large studies using high single doses, for example of beta-carotene, vitamin E and selenium, turned out disappointing. In some cases the study groups even saw more disease than with placebo. For us that is no reason to drop these nutrients, but a very good reason not to push them up. Details and sources are in our article on the ingredients.

Why exactly these ingredients?

Every ingredient in this capsule is a deliberate choice, and every form and every amount has a reason. We show you what those reasons are, and which studies sit behind them, in our article: Multivitamin ingredients: what the research says.

Jump straight to individual decisions:

Made in Germany, locally in NRW

Our multivitamin is produced in North Rhine-Westphalia to HACCP and GMP standards. That is an exception at aerobis: the rest of our range is not made locally, the multivitamin is. Short distances, a contact person nearby and a formula we defined point by point together with the manufacturer.

You will find the best-before date and batch number on the bottom of the can.

Who is the aerobis Multivitamin for?

  • Adults who want to complement their diet with a simple daily routine, including on a vegan or vegetarian diet.
  • People who do sport regularly and want vitamins for training and everyday life in one capsule.
  • Anyone who prefers to dose iodine and iron themselves, in a targeted way.
  • Men and women alike. There is no separate men's or women's version, because the iron-free formula suits both.

Please check with your doctor first

  • Anticoagulant medication: This product contains vitamin K. If you take anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication, seek medical advice before use.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Do not take during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • Children and teenagers: Suitable for adults only.
  • Other zinc supplements: Do not take other food supplements containing zinc.
  • If you take medication regularly or have a medical condition, talk to your doctor first.

How to take it

Take 1 capsule a day with a meal and enough liquid. Not on an empty stomach. The time of day does not matter; what matters is the meal, because coenzyme Q10, lutein and zeaxanthin are fat-soluble. One can of 30 capsules lasts 30 days.

Multivitamin FAQ

What is the best multivitamin?

The best multivitamin is the one that fits your diet and that you actually take every day. Look for a transparent table with amounts and % NRV, sensible rather than maximum doses, and check whether iodine and iron suit you. We built our capsule on exactly these criteria.

Is the aerobis Multivitamin high strength?

No, not in the sense of record values, and that is intentional. Most nutrients sit between 50 and 190 % NRV. Deliberately higher are vitamin D3 (20 µg, 400 % NRV) and vitamin B12 (15 µg, 600 % NRV), deliberately lower is vitamin A (300 µg, 37.5 % NRV). Why we do not push the rest up is explained above under "Why we do not go for maximum doses".

Why a multivitamin without iodine?

Because many people in Germany already get iodine from iodised salt, fish and dairy, and needs vary a lot from person to person. If you want or need to add iodine, it is better done in a targeted way and, with thyroid issues, after talking to your doctor.

Why a multivitamin without iron?

Iron needs differ greatly between people. Iron is best taken in a targeted way after a blood test. So we leave it out, and you can add a separate iron supplement if you need one.

Why is there no magnesium?

Magnesium is needed in amounts of several hundred milligrams (reference value 375 mg). That does not fit sensibly into one capsule with all the other nutrients. Rather than a token amount, we leave it out completely.

When should I take the multivitamin?

Once a day with a meal, with enough liquid. Morning, lunchtime or evening makes no difference. Not on an empty stomach.

Is there one multivitamin for men and one for women?

No. Our formula is designed for adult men and women alike. The biggest difference between many men's and women's multivitamins is iron, and we deliberately leave it out.

Does the multivitamin suit sport and training?

Yes, it is made for active people who want a simple routine. Many B vitamins, vitamin C, copper and manganese contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism. But a multivitamin replaces neither good food nor recovery.

Is it really vitamins from A to Z?

All 13 vitamins are included: A, C, D3, E, K2 plus B1, B2, niacin, pantothenic acid, B6, biotin, folate and B12. On top come six trace elements. Iodine and iron are left out on purpose; magnesium is also left out because of the amounts involved (see FAQ).

Is the multivitamin vegan?

Yes. The formula is suitable for a vegan diet, and the capsule shell is made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose instead of gelatine. The multivitamin is also lactose-free and contains no gluten-containing ingredients. It is made in Germany to HACCP and GMP.

Capsules or tablets: what is the difference?

We chose a capsule with a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose shell. That way the formula needs only a few excipients, and you take one capsule instead of several tablets.

What about coenzyme Q10, lutein and boron?

They are part of the formula: 30 mg coenzyme Q10, 8 mg lutein, 1.6 mg zeaxanthin and 2.5 mg boron. There are no authorised health claims for these substances, so we make no promises about them. What studies have shown about them, and where the limits are, you can read in our article on the ingredients.

Can I combine the multivitamin with medication?

This product contains vitamin K. If you take anticoagulant medication, seek medical advice before use. For other medication, if in doubt ask your doctor or pharmacist.
